TGCB has its beginnings in a Sunday tradition.

Our founder, Adaeze Okonkwo, taught herself to bake and, for many years, brought delicious cakes and homemade pastries to church to share after the service. Before heading home, people lingered over something sweet or savoury, conversation and each other’s company. For Adaeze, it was a way to serve her church community and be a blessing to others.

Those who enjoyed her baking began asking for cakes and pastries for their own celebrations. Through these requests, The Girl Can Bake (TGCB) was born.

Today, everything we make reflects that same love of baking and bringing people together. Our signature cupcakes, hand-piped florals and bespoke cakes find their place at birthday tables, among friends and on the doorsteps of people you are thinking of.

Some occasions call for months of planning. Others begin with a lovely thought that cannot wait.

We know a box can carry more than cake. Your thanks, your congratulations, your affection. Or simply the happiness of being remembered.

From those first Sundays to the celebrations we are part of today, the pleasure has always been in the joy of giving. We look forward to being part of yours.
